Marit Stiles was elected NDP leader in March 2023, succeeding Andrea Horwath. A former Toronto District School Board trustee, she was first elected as MPP for Davenport in 2018. She led the party through the 2025 snap election, winning 27 seats to form the Official Opposition. She survived a leadership review in September 2025, receiving 68% support.
